Redux/Redux II Wow! Well, first was Gethsemane. We all knew that Mulder wasn't dead, mainly because DD had signed to do the movie, and they were filming it. And then the season premiere. I must say that I was disappointed at the way that they resolved Mulder's "suicide." I believed that they could have come up with a much more creative ending. Although, I must admit that there were so many wild as well as reasonable theories flying across the 'Net that I wouldn't or couldn't be surprised by anything they did. Overall, the episode was better than average, but definitely not the best. I think that there were way too many voice-overs, and when I rewatch it, it seems a bit jumpy. Of course this may be a positive thing, but I myself was not impressed. I'm still trying to decide whether I thought the "history lesson scene" was necessary. Different, nice, but.... And then, the thing with Skinner. All things that I have previously thought about him went straight out the window. I believe that Skinner walking in with the coroner's report could very well have overwhelmed Scully and caused her to faint and bleed. Also, either Scully (not to be confused with GA) has taken acting lessons, or my theory: she was teary- eyed because she knew that she was lying, and it could be proven that she was lying. I always thought that Scully was very careful about her career. I did, however, think that the acting was some of the best I've seen, and lighting and all that as good as it normally is. Miscellaneous thoughts: So many things were wrong with this episode. Why no one would recognize Mulder, why there isn't more security for a top secret level, why a level 4 person was doing surveillance, how Mulder could possibly get that man down to his apartment without blood and evidence, and probably many others I didn't catch, think of, or remember at this moment. How much do you want to bet that in the next year, good 'ol returning character that helps Mulder and Scully, Holly, will be dead. I bet you anything. Poor Pendrell. And now Holly. I tell you, in the X-Files universe, I wouldn't work for the government or the F.B.I. for anything. And now, Redux II. Whew, I think I would have exploded from tension if there weren't commercial breaks. But, I did growl every time they interrupted my quest for the truth.;) The final episode of the trilogy was the best. The "Skinner question" was resolved, and for the better, too. At first, when Mulder was called to Blevin's office, I thought that he was announcing Skinner's death. And why *was* Skinner at that meeting? Mulder supposedly got to meet his sister. I'm not sure what to believe on this one. Looks awfully like Colony/End Game, and as usual, Mulder seems too quick to believe. Maybe Mulder's quest can be to "refind" Samantha, or find out it is really her. And the shots of Mulder holding on to her, and then letting go... So symbolic, of what, that I'm not yet sure. Anyone want to help me? But very nice and sad. The reunion wasn't all that it was cut out to be, eh Mulder? Anyways, I knew that deionized water held the cure. What did I tell you? I knew it all along. I mean, why would they keep water in a top secret place that no one expected Mulder to penetrate? Although, a "short time after" the chip was removed was a year about. They made it sound like mere weeks, in my opinion. And the hospital scenes, the 'shipper in me was beaming away. Awww, how sweet. (No, I'm not being sarcastic.) And, boy did Bill Scully lay the guilt trip on Mulder! Look at the way he answered the phone: "sorry son of a bitch speaking." Geez, I know that you're being protective and all, Bill, but give him a break. And, Mulder, don't just sit there. You don't have to listen to that.Well, it was down to the last 7 minutes, and I was thinking, how the heck are they going to finish this in 7 minutes? With a cheap way to end Scully's cancer. Oh, BTW, she's suddenly cured, and we're going to have Mulder tell Skinner that she's all better. Doesn't work for me. I want a nice, big scene(minus the tears, please, which leads to my next paragraph) with Scully, Mulder, the doctor, and Scully's family being told that she's improving. And then, CSM was killed (or so we think). Of all the many, many, many X-Files victims of assassination, he takes the cake. Come on, you can kill a lab boy, two informants, and family members, but you just can't kill your main villain. It's not surprising anymore, it's downright annoying. You can't fool us anymore, CC. Pretty soon there won't be anyone left, then what'll you do? And, finally, how many times can people cry in one episode! I think that Mulder cried 3 times! Correct me if I'm wrong. One time where Mulder was crying by Scully's bedside, I thought he was choking on the pillow or stabbed or something. A bit overdramatic. And, Scully, Samantha, they cried, too, of course. I bet CSM almost cried. Miscellaneous thoughts: Did you see the look on Mulder's face when "Samantha" said that Cancerman was her father? So legendary! Whew, that was funny. Also hilarious: "Please tell me you're here because of severe chest pains." I did expect Mulder to attack him, but he seemed rather civilized towards CSM for a change.
