Post Modern Prometheus Well, let's see. I guess if I had to put a grade on this episode, I'd have to give it a B-. I must confess that I've never seen the movie Frankenstein, so I probably missed several parody jokes from that. So I can't comment on that, but I'll try for other things. Pretty much, I didn't think the plot was that memorable. The episode had memorable moments, but not exceptionally original. But, what was memorable was the black and white coloring. At first, I was unsure of a black and white episode, but it was, as Mulder would say, "quite refreshing" . (WOTC) The coloring enhanced the lighting effects. Although they might have gone a bit overboard with the lightning at the beginning (A few were very nice and timely placed, but sometimes it seemed like a kid with a light switch.), the shadows, smoke, and clouds in the sky looked wonderful. The music, was great. Somehow they always are able to make fairly cheerful songs into horror pieces. Just like in Home. Some of the shots were much different than usual, namely the ones that had Mulder, Scully, or some other character. Usually they don't look into the camera, but here they did sometimes. It was different and occasionally comical. I especially liked the one where they pop their heads around the wall one by one. The whole episode had a comical air to it, and I loved some of the scenes in the cafe. Mulder getting hit with some pudding or something, eager, and then later hateful looks, each based on what the morning paper said. And the Cher concert thing at the end made me laugh out loud. Mulder high-fiving the "monster," another thing Mulder did that I couldn't and wouldn't believe it unless I saw it. Just the whole idea of Mulder dancing to the beat, and smiling nonetheless, I still can't picture it. Oh, and I THOUGHT that maybe, just maybe we could go one episode with both Mulder and Scully in it without having a 'shipper moment. I guess it just can't be done. Mulder and Scully dancing at the end. Really, actually, I enjoyed that little scene, don't get me wrong I'm an end of the show 'shipper, so I'm obviously becoming even more worried now. For those who read my Detour review, you probably remember what I'm talking about. For those who did not, there are way too many 'shipper scenes now, it's becoming way too common, ordinary, and therefore not a special occurrence. But at least this time it wasn't one major scene or focus. -Something to ponder: Mulder's answer to "You believe everything, don't you?" His answer: I used to. Or something like that, I'm paraphrasing. But it got me thinking.
