Kill Switch was pretty good, actually. An interesting plot, leaving something to ponder: can we upload our souls onto the 'Net and live without our bodies. Although maybe it could have focused a bit more on that aspect, I thought it was a decent story. Crazy, action-packed, you never knew what would happen next. The teaser was great, one of the best I've seen. It was exciting, interesting, and different than the usual weird person is introduced and someone dies. I suppose that it was essentially the same, but above the basic outline, it contained much more than the usual. Fast-paced and switching from several different people and locations in mere seconds, it provided an interesting change from the norm. All of a sudden, the gunfire, and the shots barely seen from the outside: beautiful. The haunting, repeating score in the coffee shop was excellent. Someone get that on a soundtrack! In this episode, Scully was in her most skeptical element! Of course there are no such things as particle beams. We haven't seen as much skepticism since the first season. I loved the sardonic Scully when she was driving Invisigoth. "Dandy" "You are correct, sir" "In a manner of speaking." I almost laughed. That dialogue, and Scully, were quite clever in that scene. While I'm discussing characters, Frohike was also at his absolute best. "She is so hot!" And his face when she mentioned her tongue.... Classic. Poor Mulder! His, I guess, dream sequence was so tragicomic. I knew, though, that that scene had to be fake. Very strange, even for X-Files. Anyway, I wouldn't want that doctor taking care of me; he looked like he might croak at any moment. And it's Baby!Mulder, with his high, frantic voice (previously seen in End Game). I think that his "dream" would have been even more terrifying if he knew Krycek also was missing a limb. But he still could get a good kick in. (But Scully takes the cake for kicks in that scene.) Wonderful effects, with the switching from real sight to computer outlines. (That's the best as I can describe it.) The ending was odd- almost like a usual episode's teaser. But, the always unexplained mysteries of X-Files. So, overall, I like this episode. Entertaining, interesting, making you think. I had to watch it twice to even begin figuring out this one. I admit that sometimes I had no idea what the heck all that techno-talk was about, but you get the basic meaning. If I had to grade it, I'd say, oh, about a B. - I'm surprised that, after all that time and gunfire, the computer screen is still up and running. Did anyone think of pressing "return" then? - I loved how when everyone was so technical, Scully offers the most simple suggestion: check the email. - This episode certainly used a lot of electricity! Examples, to name a few, the computers, when Mulder's trapped to that board in the trailer, or whatever it was. - Loved Invisigoth's eye makeup. Character enhancement? Could have done without it. - Convenient round hole in the table. Perfect for handcuff emergencies. - The robot in the trailer reminded me of the robotic cockroaches in WOTC. - Love how the ever alert Scully almost fires at the CD-ROM drive popping out. - Those fire-beams that zero in- that was just cool, although not entirely original.
