I liked this episode in general. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't
necessarily spectacular either. Having two Stargates is a fascinating idea,
but it turned out to be slightly confusing and questionable.
It seemed like a big leap that Daniel would be able to figure out the
second Stargate. Especially if they were unheard of on other planets before.
However the idea of a second Stargate is fairly clever. It gave the
episode a great surprise twist to it. And we got to learn more of the physics
of the Stargate.
Good suspense building where Sam is slowing punching the DHD symbols.
It is, though, easy to tell that it won't work. Too easy of an escape too
early in the show.
The last 5 minutes of the episode appeared rushed. Quick dissolves
between scenes looked nice, and were effective, however had those scenes been
near the beginning of the show, I'm sure they'd have been longer. I know they
only have 45 minutes, but it looked cheap.
Solitudes was the kind of episode where, afterward, you sit back and try
to remember what happened, and all you basically think of is 1.) ice, 2.) Two
Stargates. You can give a summary in one sentence that would be relatively
complete. I'd give this episode 3.5 Kleenex boxes out of 5.

					General Comments:

- Despite saying that Jack and Sam shouldn't be together, it seems Jack and
Sam are put together in "romantic" situations quite often.

- Occasionally, Sarah pops up here and there. I like knowing more about the
character's personally. This episode did well to advance Jack's character.

- There was the classic, sometimes overused shot of Daniel's point of view as
he awakes: the blurry, then focus in with the camera. Name me one hospital
scene where a character wakes up, and that shot is not used.

- I love those cutaways of Teal'c, expressionless or raising an eyebrow. I'll
never get tired of those.

- Why does Hammond always refer to Daniel as "son" or "our boy?" Just
something I noticed....
